Diane Derrien

PhD Student

2022-2026

Diane is a PhD student exploring the phenomenon of blindsight — how patients with cortical blindness can still perceive without conscious visual awareness. Her research is grounded in the global neuronal workspace framework, aiming to understand the underlying mechanisms of blindsight, with a particular focus on the nature of subjective experience and metacognition in the blind field. Her broad motivation is to apply insights from neuroscience of consciousness to better understand the subjective experience of various perceptual disorder, with potential implications neuro-rehabilitation strategies.
