Başak pursued her studies in cognitive science at the Ecole Normale Supérieure, following a double degree in psychology and cognitive science from Lyon University. After completing her PhD on sleep and consciousness at the Paris Brain Institute under the supervision of Jacobo Sitt, she joined our lab as a postdoctoral researcher. Her research investigates the interplay between ongoing brain dynamics and fluctuations in conscious perception across different states of consciousness, including wakefulness, sleep, and anesthesia.
